Girona B goalkeeper dies in accident on N-II

I was sad to read of the death of the Girona B goalkeeper, Nil Marín, over the weekend in a traffic accident on the N-II near Caldes de Malavella. He was on his way to training on Saturday morning in Girona when the car he was travelling in struck a lorry head on.

Although I don’t follow Girona B, I am familiar with that stretch of N-II and avoid it whenever possible. It is a nightmare to drive and renowned for the number of accidents, so much so that lorries are banned from using it in many stretches.

I don’t know whether this was one of those stretches or not, but construction on improvements to the road near Caldes were stopped a couple of years ago due to cutbacks, although I believe they have recently restarted.
