The longest maritime mural in the world was unveiled off the coast of Llançà yesterday. The work, by artist Carles Bros, is on a breakwater 120 metres offshore, constructed in 2011 to protect the harbour from the effects of storms.

The work took three months to complete, with Bros required to use climbing equipment at times. It is 116 metres in length with a surface area of and 3,168 square metres.

The mural is hoped to raise the profile of Llançà, but why that should be is anyone’s guess.
